Basketball Recap: Central Valley Academy Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Central Valley Academy won the last time they faced Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Central Valley Academy Thunder took their match with ease, bagging a 67-34 win over the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils. That 33 point margin sets a new team best for the Thunder this season.

Central Valley Academy was led to victory by Brayden Smalls and Calvin Jacquays. Smalls went 10 for 16 on his way to 25 points along with five steals and three blocks, while Jacquays went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points. Smalls is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Luke, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

Central Valley Academy's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Central Valley Academy and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will both be playing Whitesboro the next time they take the court. Central Valley Academy will host Whitesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
