Basketball Game Preview: Ballston Spa Scotties vs. Colonie Central Wolfpack

Ballston Spa is 0-9 against Colonie Central since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Ballston Spa Scotties will square off against the Colonie Central Wolfpack at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ballston Spa will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Guilderland, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Ballston Spa snuck past Guilderland with a 50-46 victory on Tuesday.

Ballston Spa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karsyn Messina led the charge by going 5 for 12 en route to 14 points and five steals. Messina has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Sprissler, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Colonie Central's strategy against Schenectady on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Colonie Central blew Schenectady out of the water with a 71-19 final score. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Patriots are ranked 495th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colonie Central has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Ballston Spa, their record now sits at 9-4.

Ballston Spa took a serious blow against Colonie Central when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 62-27. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ballston Spa was down 36-14.
