Gatorade announced its recipients for the State Football Players of the Year with the National Player of the Year to be named at a later date.
The Gatorade State Player of the Year honor is aimed at honoring not only the best athletes, but also those students who have shown success in the classroom and also exhibit outstanding character on and off the field.
This year’s list includes some familiar names, including Dylan Favre of St. Stanislaus (Bay St. Louis, Miss.) who is the leading passer in the country according to MaxPreps. Other notables include Oaks Christian running back Malcolm Jones in California, Byrnes running back Marcus Lattimore in South Carolina and Ryan quarterback Scotty Young in Texas.
