Bryan took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westview. Bryan has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Bryan lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being A'mare Bynum, who scored 17 points. That was a full 34.7% of Bryan's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rylan Rodriguez, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Leading Westview to victory were Tayvin Murphy and Elijah Wilborn. Murphy scored 17 points along with five rebounds, while Wilborn scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilborn has scored all season. Tzyon Patterson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Bryan has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bryan will take on Gretna East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Westview, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bellevue East at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Bellevue East is coming into the match with eight straight defeats on the road, meaning Westview will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
