It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Williams Valley Vikings had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over Schuylkill Haven. Winning may never get old, but Williams Valley sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
It was another big night for Alex Achenbach, who rushed for 234 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Achenbach is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Kian Krzyzanowski also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Schuylkill Haven still got an impressive performance from Niko Carestia, who rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Carestia's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Auggie Warke was another key contributor, throwing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes.
Williams Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Schuylkill Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Williams Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Dunmore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dunmore will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Schuylkill Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
