The Bacon Academy Bobcats were the 46-31 winner over the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bacon Academy fell 49-36 to Norwich Free Academy on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bacon Academy has scored all season.
Bacon Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skyelyn Schoen-rene, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Novak, who scored 11 points.
Leading Norwich Free Academy to victory were Nevaeh Yorke and Emily Orcutt. Yorke scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Orcutt scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Yorke continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Brooke Stringer was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Bacon Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Norwich Free Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bacon Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Simsbury at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Simsbury is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Norwich Free Academy, they will be playing at home against Griswold at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Griswold is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
