After a string of six wins, the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Southwestern 50-46. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Jac-Cen-Del came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Southwestern is ranked 216th).
Despite the loss, Jac-Cen-Del still got an impressive performance from Julia Meyer, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Meyer's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Reagan Hughes was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Olivia Simpson was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Scroggins, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Jac-Cen-Del's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5. As for Southwestern, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Jac-Cen-Del does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southwestern will face off against Brownstown Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
