After flying high against the Pioneer Panthers last Tuesday, the Maconaquah Braves came back down to earth. Maconaquah took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitko on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (58), Maconaquah still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Maconaquah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Miranda Stoll. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bailey Carson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
It was another big night for Jayma Stonebraker, who scored 23 points along with three steals for Whitko. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stonebraker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriyanna Phillips, who scored 21 points.
Maconaquah's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Whitko, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Maconaquah will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Southwood at 7:45 p.m. on January 22nd. Southwood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Whitko, they will be playing at home against Northfield at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Whitko is ranked 95th).
