On Friday, The Wheeling Park Patriots faced the Parkersburg South Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wheeling Park claimed a resounding 64-14 win over Parkersburg South at home. The victory was familiar territory for Wheeling Park who now have four in a row.
Wheeling Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Davis led the charge by throwing for 265 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Davis hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Amare Johnson, who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Wheeling Park's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Parkersburg South, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Wheeling Park will head out on the road to face off against John Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. John Marshall is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Parkersburg South will take on Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Princeton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Parkersburg South likes a good challenge.
