The Lincoln Northeast Rockets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Norfolk. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaden Coon, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Coffman, who scored nine points.
Lincoln Northeast struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Norfolk's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Synovec, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Brayden Hendershot was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Lincoln Northeast now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Norfolk, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Lincoln Northeast will be playing in front of their home fans against Papillion-LaVista South at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Norfolk, they will head out on the road to challenge Grand Island on Friday. Hopefully Grand Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
