On Friday, the Farmington Scorpions faced the Tohatchi Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Farmington enjoyed a cozy 59-41 win over Tohatchi. Winning may never get old, but Farmington sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Kapiolani Anitielu continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayana Toledo, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Farmington's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Tohatchi, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Farmington will head out on the road to square off against Miyamura at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miyamura will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Farmington is ranked second). Tohatchi won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Piedra Vista at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th.
