Bishop England's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Donato, who threw for 188 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. Those 188 passing yards gave Donato a new career-high. A healthy portion of Donato's aerial production (128 yards to be exact) went to Brody Tonon, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Bishop England's defense stepped up as well, laying out Gerald Gibson nine times. Matthew Ponkow and Jackson Kunz were the leaders of the group effort as each produced 2.5 apiece. Another thorn in Lower Richland's side was Hunter Alex, who made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, South Florence took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 47-7 win over Darlington. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won nine in a row.
South Florence's win came from a few key players Bishop England will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Malik Robinson, who picked up 47 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Gabe McLaughlin was another key back, rushing for 31 yards and two scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something South Florence proved: they limited Darlington to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Ayden Robinson for the heroic effort on defense: he. South Florence didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.8.
South Florence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Johnquis Johnson and Amare Reaves. Reaves got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
South Florence's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Bishop England, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
