After a string of three wins, the Westside Christian Academy Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 37-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of HEARTS for Jesus Christ. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westside Christian Academy has scored all season.
Nate Taylor and Calvin Cottenden certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Taylor scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Cottenden scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Westside Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Silas Nixon out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grady Davis, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Westside Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for HEARTS for Jesus Christ, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Westside Christian Academy will play host again and welcome Horizon Science Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. HEARTS for Jesus Christ won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Varsity Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on January 16th.
