There's no place like home for the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Northside Christian 44-26 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Petersburg Catholic also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
St. Petersburg Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kate Miller out in front who scored 12 points along with four steals. Miller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Elise Graham was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Somers, who scored seven points.
St. Petersburg Catholic's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11. As for Northside Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
St. Petersburg Catholic will head out on the road to square off against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Canterbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Northside Christian, they and the Chargers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Shorecrest Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
