The Wayne Badgers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 61-52 win over Milford. For Wayne, this counts as revenge for the 49-42 defeat the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Wayne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Batty, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Batty has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryker Peterson, who scored 18 points.
Milford lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colton Barnes, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Kielen Tsosie, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Milford, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.
Wayne will head out on the road to face off against the Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m.
