The Monmouth Academy Mustangs will take on the Oak Hill Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Monmouth Academy will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Monmouth Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Spruce Mountain, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Phoenix a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Shannah Parsons was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Rileigh Chase was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lillian Palleschi, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Monmouth Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spruce Mountain only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Oak Hill was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to Mountain Valley. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Like Monmouth Academy, Oak Hill also got a great game from a two-way player: Izzy Whitaker. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Whitaker has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Whitaker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carlee Austin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Monmouth Academy pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Everything went Monmouth Academy's way against Oak Hill in their previous matchup back in May, as Monmouth Academy made off with a 13-6 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
