Fairview (Ashland, Ky.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as it ran for a touchdown with with less than a minute remaining in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Raceland (Ky.) 40-27.
The Eagles were up 27-21 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run in the second quarter.
Fairview expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. FHS scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
The loss snapped the Rams' 5-game winning streak.
Devon Turner was the top performer for the Ashland school. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
Raceland came in surrendering 15.9 points per game this season.
A 25-6 Fairview victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Raceland defeated Nicholas County 60-12 last week.
Fairview (8-0) will play a 1A District 7 game against Nicholas County next week, while Raceland (6-2) will take on Paintsville also in a 1A District 7 game.
