Alice is 0-7 against Carroll since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Coyotes will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Alice has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Alice and Corpus Christi Moody meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Coyotes lost 22-2 to the Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Coyotes couldn't push the score so high this time.
Alice saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Padron, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Carroll waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Texans a 15-0 shutout. The Tigers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.
Ray's batters probably weren't too happy with Emerys Sanchez, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up a single walk). Sanchez has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Julia Rodriguez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaeleigh Mendez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Alice's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alice has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alice might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Carroll when the teams last played back in February. Will the Coyotes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
