Johnson is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bowie is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Johnson Jaguars will be home for the holidays to greet the Bowie Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, Johnson came up short against Austin and fell 40-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Johnson in their matchups with Austin: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Bowie sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 victory over Austin on Friday. Given Bowie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Austin is ranked 730th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Johnson's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Bowie, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Johnson couldn't quite finish off Bowie in their previous meeting back in January and fell 49-46. Can Johnson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
