The Liberty Lancers were the 58-51 winner over the Rampart Rams when they last played one another on January 6th, but their luck changed this time around. Liberty fell 50-40 to Rampart on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Samira Gantt scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gantt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ava Dawes, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Emily Huxtable continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rampart, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Huxtable has scored at least a third of Rampart's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Dufty, who scored six points.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Rampart, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.
Liberty will stay at home for another game and welcome Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Fountain-Fort Carson is ranked 79th, while Liberty is ranked 75th). As for Rampart, they will head out on the road to challenge Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Creek is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
