The Custer County Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-33 loss at the hands of Sanford. While losing is never fun, Custer County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 85th).
Despite the loss, Custer County saw an underclassman step up: Grant Rusk scored 12 points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Rusk posted two or more blocks.
Custer County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Sanford, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Custer County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday. As for Sanford, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Burros at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. South Park is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
