The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will face off against the Viewmont Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Maple Mountain will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
Maple Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won 19 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jeremiah Hall and Sawyer Leifson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Hall didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Leifson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Hall went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Leifson went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Reece Johnson and AJ Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Johnson a new career-high. Hayden Hyatt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Maple Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Murray typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Viewmont proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.
Elias Culley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Kimball Essig was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Boston Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Maple Mountain's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Viewmont, their win bumped their record up to 20-10.
Maple Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Viewmont when the teams last played back in May of 2019, winning 7-3. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
