The Pine Forest Eagles entered their tilt with the Pensacola Tigers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Pine Forest made off with a 58-57 win over Pensacola. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Pine Forest's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Micah Franklin, who scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Franklin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Marco Stallworth, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Pensacola lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nick Jones, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Jones posted two or more blocks. Jatony Jefferson was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Pine Forest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Pensacola, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
Pine Forest and West Florida will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully West Florida focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Pensacola, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Gulf Breeze at 7:00 p.m.
