On Tuesday, the Bloomfield Bobcats faced the Gallup Bengals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bloomfield took a serious blow against Gallup, falling 61-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bloomfield has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Bloomfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aliya Quintana. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Quintana is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
This is the second loss in a row for Bloomfield and nudges their season record down to 12-4. As for Gallup, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their 17th straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will take on Miyamura at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miyamura will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Bloomfield is ranked 20th). As for Gallup, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aztec at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
