This season hasn't been kind to the Mitchell Marauders, who are still winless after their ninth match. They took a serious blow against Widefield on Saturday, falling 64-24. Mitchell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
Despite the loss, Mitchell still got an impressive performance from Jayciona Fisher, who scored 15 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Widefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kasaya Krause, who scored 15 points along with eight steals. Krause has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zariah Ortiz, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Mitchell bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Widefield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Mitchell will take on Banning Lewis Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Widefield, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
