The Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 11th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-39 loss at the hands of Winnfield. While losing is never fun, Jonesboro-Hodge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Winnfield is ranked 65th).
Winnfield had a senior duo take command as Decavian Duncan scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Cl Davis scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jaylon Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Jonesboro-Hodge's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-14. As for Winnfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jonesboro-Hodge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Many at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Winnfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Lakeview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Winnfield likes a good challenge.
