The Leonard Lancers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They breezed by Pahokee at home to the tune of 81-43. Given Leonard's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Pahokee is ranked 523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emmanuel Augustin had an outrageously good game as he scored 25 points along with 8 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Jones, who scored 9 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Pahokee's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Javian Jones, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kalil Jones, who scored 10 points.
Leonard's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pahokee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Leonard will be playing at home against Boynton Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boynton Beach is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Pahokee, they will head out on the road to face off against Seminole Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Seminole Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
