Manor New Tech will square off against the Eastside Early College Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Eastside Early College's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Manor New Tech hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Manor New Tech never let Northeast Early College get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Friday. Considering Manor New Tech has won three games by more than 17 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lynette Munoz and Lelani Ceballos made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Munoz tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ceballos pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Munoz scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Ceballos went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Manor New Tech got a massive performance out of Camila Gallegos Alvarez, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. With that strong performance, Gallegos Alvarez is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriella Guardiola, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI.
Manor New Tech hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Eastside Early College made sure to put some runs up on the board against Travis on Friday. Eastside Early College put the hurt on Travis with a sharp 16-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won four in a row.
Mikaela Montoya was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Evy Leon, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
The victory got Eastside Early College back to even at 2-2. As for Manor New Tech, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Manor New Tech has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastside Early College struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
