The Cross Trojans stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Lowcountry Leadership with a sharp 51-27 victory. The score was close at the half, but Cross pulled away in the second half with 37 points.
Cross' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren Middleton, who scored 18 points along with six steals. Middleton hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Diamonique Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight steals.
Lowcountry Leadership's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keziah Darby, who scored 12 points. That was a full 44.4% of Lowcountry Leadership's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cross has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Cross will head out on the road to face off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Baptist Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Monday. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Burke knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the NaviGators likes a good challenge.
