Baseball Recap: Chandler Prep Takes a Loss

Chandler Prep easily dispatched Miami last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Chandler Prep fell just short of the Horizon Honors Eagles by a score of 7-5 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Dominic Steineke was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Steineke wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Robby Hirsch, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another was Derek Tucker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Chandler Prep's record now sits at 5-2. As for Horizon Honors, their record is now 6-2-1.

Chandler Prep didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-2 defeat against Scottsdale Christian Academy on the 26th. As for Horizon Honors, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-0 victory against Veritas Prep on the 26th.
