 In other batting news, Mt. Vernon got a  massive  performance out of  Cora Bell, who  scored three  runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was  Hannah West, who  went 2-for-5 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
 Evansville Harrison's record now sits at 2-0. As for Mt. Vernon, their victory was  their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 6-1.
 Evansville Harrison might still be hurting after the  13-5 loss they got from Mt. Vernon  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2023. Thankfully for Evansville Harrison,  Kaylen Salee (who   struck out 12 batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and one unearned) runs off   six  hits (and not a single walk)) won't be suiting up this time.
