Basketball Recap: Crawfordsville's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lawrenceville, Crawfordsville was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 43-37 W over the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers. The win was some much needed relief for the Athenians as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Crawfordsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Johnovan Smith out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 boards and nine assists. Smith is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Mason Mccarty was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 12 points.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Crawfordsville was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

North Montgomery's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelby Harwood, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Claycomb, who had 12 points.

Crawfordsville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for North Montgomery, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Crawfordsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-64 victory against Speedway on the 27th. As for North Montgomery, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-51 defeat against Delphi Community on the 30th.
