Newton County Academy lost to Kemper Academy last Saturday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Generals were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Rams. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Bryce Jones, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Burt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI.
Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact: Newton County Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Generals are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Newton County Academy pushed their record up to 9-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Kemper Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Coming up, Newton County Academy will challenge River Oaks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kemper Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
