The Vero Beach Indians lost against the Treasure Coast Titans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Vero Beach took a 64-47 bruising from Treasure Coast. While losing is never fun, Vero Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Treasure Coast is ranked 87th).
Despite the loss, Vero Beach still got an impressive performance from Jayden Peart, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Andre Ferguson, who scored five points.
Leading Treasure Coast to victory were Tyler Shelton and Tyson Wilson. Shelton scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, while Wilson almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shelton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dejuan Preston, who scored 12 points.
Vero Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Treasure Coast, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Vero Beach will be playing at home against Jensen Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jensen Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Vero Beach likes a good challenge. As for Treasure Coast, they will take on Royal Palm Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Royal Palm Beach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
