Kennedy Catholic is 1-9 against Tahoma since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lancers will take on the Bears at 6:00 p.m.
Kennedy Catholic fell victim to Kentridge and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Lancers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Kennedy Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Mowat, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Tahoma had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Kangaroos with a sharp 16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Alexa Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Tahoma got a massive performance out of Kelsey Jones, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hammington, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Tahoma lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.
Tahoma's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kennedy Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Tahoma struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kennedy Catholic suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Tahoma in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
