The Miami-Yoder Buffaloes have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by Elbert at home and fell 65-27. Miami-Yoder was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-17.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Sommerville, who scored four points.
Miami-Yoder struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Elbert racked up 16 assists.
Elbert's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan LaFollette led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Caleb Cornell was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six assists and four steals.
Miami-Yoder's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Elbert, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami-Yoder will challenge Hanover at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Miami-Yoder focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for Elbert, they will head out on the road to face off against Cripple Creek-Victor at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elbert is coming into the matchup with four straight victories on the road, so Cripple Creek-Victor is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
