Doane Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Bordentown on the road by a decisive 62-47 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Doane Academy in their matchups with the Scotties: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Doane Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hiatt Smith, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Smith continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Balogun, who scored seven points.
Bordentown was led to victory by Elijah Florence and Eunmin Choi. Florence scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while Choi dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Florence has scored all season. Myles Hansford was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Doane Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Bordentown, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doane Academy will challenge the Blue Devils at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bordentown, they will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
