The Tolar Rattlers will venture away from home to square off against the Early Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tolar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Tolar and Peaster had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Rattlers fell 17-14 to the Greyhounds on Friday. While the Rattlers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Greyhounds 5-1 in the first period.
Tolar got a massive performance out of Senne Imel, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaylyn Miller, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Early posted their closest win since March 14th on Saturday. They skirted past Comanche 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Longhorns.
Sydney Greaves spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Early saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyleigh Caperton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Early pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tolar, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Tolar hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Early struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Tolar beat Early 8-5 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rattlers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
