2A-2 Region IV District 15 recap September 10, 2013
Stockdale's Gage Haley rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A-2 Region IV District 15 this season in his game against Jourdanton last week. Haley's team fell to the Indians as he sprinted for 62 yards on the play and finished with 64 in all.
Dilley moved up to 700 from 826 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wolves were able to make move up by topping Poteet 52-6.
Natalia's dynamic duo of Erik Villareal and Arturo Contreras proved tough for Lytle to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Villareal threw for 105 yards and Contreras had 87 yards receiving. Victor Gonzalez helped Natalia's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 18 yards.
The Mustangs' dynamic duo of Villareal and Contreras proved to be unstoppable against the Pirates, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Villareal put up the best numbers in passing as Natalia fell to Lytle.
John Mendez was a passing and rushing force as Bloomington beat Agua Dulce.
Contreras was the best wideout in the league this week as Chad Graves' team lost to Dan Gomez's team.
Mendez was the most successful running back in 2A-2 Region IV District 15 this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 224 yards as the Bobcats fell to the Pirates. Abel Almaguer also contributed to the rushing game with 143 yards on the ground.
Mendez was a force in the backfield as Bloomington bested the Longhorns.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Contreras. The Natalia star has 6 catches for 87 yards.
The Bobcats were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, Bloomington triumphed over Agua Dulce 39-6.
