The Greene County Tech Golden Eagles will face off against the Northside Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greene County Tech will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Northside is ranked eighth).
Last Saturday, Greene County Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Rogers Heritage, taking the game 44-36. The victory was just what Greene County Tech needed coming off of a 47-27 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Northside unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by IMG Academy 76-40. Northside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Hazley Grotjohn, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. The matchup was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Erianna Gooden was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
North Little Rock's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Greene County Tech's loss dropped theirs to 3-3.
Greene County Tech won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2016, slipping by Northside 51-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greene County Tech since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
