The Northern Huskies won the last time they faced the Rockwood Rockets, and things went their way on Monday too. Northern took down Rockwood 59-44. Given Northern's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 149th in Maryland, while Rockwood is ranked 447th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northern found their leader in underclassman Abby Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nelson has scored at least a third of Northern's points. Kaylee Bowser was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
The win made it two in a row for Northern and bumps their season record up to 11-8. As for Rockwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
Northern won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bishop Walsh at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. As for Rockwood, they will be playing at home against Claysburg-Kimmel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
