Football Recap: Maxwell Skates Past Quincy with Ease

Maxwell had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over the Quincy Trojans. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 35 points or more this season.

Maxwell had a senior duo take command as Erik New rushed for 115 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry and Luke Pearson gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns. Pearson also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Levi Velasquez also helped with two scores in total.

Maxwell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Maxwell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tanner Vierra, Pearson, and Colt Montgomery picked up one apiece. Montgomery is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Maxwell's record is now 4-2. As for Quincy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Maxwell will square off against Los Molinos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Quincy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Williams at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th.
