The Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Branford Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic fell victim to St. Petersburg Catholic's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 32-0 loss at the hands of the Barons.
Meanwhile, Branford can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hollis Christian Academy 35-0 on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Branford's seven-point performance the contest before.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Branford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevor Maddox, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Malaguti, who gained 45 total yards and two touchdowns.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Bradenton Christian and 7-1 Halifax Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.8% over those games). As for Branford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
