For the first time this season, Middleton will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Mountain View Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Mountain View will be up against a hot Middleton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Middleton's pitcher stepped up to hand Meridian an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jeremiah Keithley, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Lenius, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Middleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mountain View got the win against Meridian on Friday by a conclusive 13-0. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Cade Burnham and Cooper Schneidt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Burnham struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Schneidt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Burnham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Burnham scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Schneidt scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Braylon Schellhammer was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Seth Hecox was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Middleton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their record now sits at 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Middleton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Middleton skirted past Mountain View 5-4 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middleton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
