Basketball Recap: Ocala Christian Takes a Loss

Ocala Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 58-56.

When it comes to explaining why Ocala Christian lost, don't look at Conrad Bloom. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points and six boards. Bloom is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Carrillo, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ocala Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Assembly Christian Academy only pulled down six offensive boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Assembly Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jausten Rivera, who put up 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Burke, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Ocala Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-5.

Ocala Christian will take on Redeemer Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ocala Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Seven Rivers Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Assembly Christian Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 56.1 points per game.
