The Laurel Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Delmar Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Laurel is ranked 21st, while Delmar is ranked 20th).
Last Friday, Laurel came up short against Milford and fell 15-6.
Meanwhile, Delmar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past Sussex Tech with points to spare, taking the game 27-13.
Delmar got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Holbrook out in front who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalid Schoolfield, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Laurel now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Delmar, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Laurel against Delmar in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 42-13 win. Will Laurel repeat their success, or does Delmar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
