The Hialeah Thoroughbreds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. Their tough 93-70 defeat to Palmetto might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Hialeah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Palmetto is ranked 113th).
Palmetto was led to victory by Samfree Sarante and Santiago Henriquez. Sarante went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assist, while Henriquez dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 assists. Henriquez has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Lipson, who scored 13 points along with six assists.
Hialeah's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-7. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Palmetto, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
