Spokane hasn't had much luck against Galena recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Owls will welcome the Bears at 5:00 p.m.
Spokane is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Monday. They lost 6-0 to Central. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Owls were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Galena, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Walnut Grove get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Wyatt Doak made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Doak was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Galena's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Jaxon Foster was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Galena hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Galena pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Spokane, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Spokane might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Galena in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Owls have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
