Football Recap: Saguaro Skates Past Shadow Ridge with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saguaro). They really took it to the Shadow Ridge Stallions for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-28 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sabercats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Ashton Pannell had an outrageously good game as he threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 65 yards and one score on only five carries. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ty Strozier, who rushed for 109 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Saguaro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shadow Ridge only rushed for 129.

Saguaro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Choyce Price and Cah'Sye Mitchell. Price is also crushing it when it comes to defended passes: he's defended at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Mitchell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Shadow Ridge lost on Friday, don't look at Michael Cruz. Despite the final result, he picked up 88 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 55 yards and one touchdown. The Stallions are 2-1 when Cruz posts 80 or more receiving yards, but 2-5 otherwise. Bryan Stowell also deserves some recognition as he passed for his first passing touchdowns of the season.

Saguaro's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Shadow Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Saguaro nor Shadow Ridge have any future games scheduled.
