The Sacred Heart Valkyries put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Assumption as Sacred Heart made off with a 70-50 win. Considering Sacred Heart has won four contests by more than 19 points this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Sacred Heart to victory were ZaKiyah Johnson and Angelina Pelayo. Johnson dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Pelayo scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Sacred Heart's points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Bender, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
Sacred Heart pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Assumption, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Sacred Heart will be playing at home against Waggener at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Assumption, they will head out on the road to face off against Louisville Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
